Restoration Hardware began in 1980 as a retailer and a catalog marketer of home furnishings, fixtures and hardware. A few years ago, it began the move up-market, slowly dropping the knobs, pulls and hooks, and focusing on “gallery” style furniture. With each season, as the merchandise got more luxurious, the marketing got more bloated.
The tipping point came in 2012 when the company’s Source Book clocked in at 992 pages and 5.5 pounds. That’s when they came to us to re-invent their online presence. While we are bound by a confidentially agreement we can say this much: several elements of our digital design have filtered into the their printed catalog. We just can’t say which.
